Can you record and save your mixes using Serato DJ Lite?
Serato DJ Lite doesn’t have a built-in mix recording function. Serato DJ Pro does, provided you’re using compatible DJ hardware that supports recording.
Keep in mind that Serato DJ Pro’s recording function also isn’t available when you’re using Practice Mode or playing tracks directly from a streaming service. Upgrading to Serato DJ Pro also won’t let you record sets made with streaming-service tracks using Serato’s built-in recorder. You can read more about Serato’s current streaming integrations here.
While Serato DJ Lite doesn’t have a built-in recording tool, you can still use third-party software such as Audacity or OBS. Both are free, although you’ll need to make sure the audio from your mix is actually being routed into the recording software.

How can you record your performance with Serato DJ Lite?
There are two basic ways to record a Serato DJ Lite mix: capture the audio inside your computer using audio-routing or loopback software, or send the controller’s Master output into a separate recording input or external recorder.
You can achieve all that using third party sound recording software such as Audacity or OBS.
- Audacity is a free and open-source audio editor that can record audio from a suitable system loopback, virtual audio device, or physical audio input. The exact setup depends on your operating system and audio hardware. Windows can often use a WASAPI loopback input, while macOS generally requires an additional virtual audio-routing solution.
If you want to route the controller’s physical Master output back into your computer, you’ll need a suitable audio input and the correct cable for your particular controller and recording device.

- OBS, although mainly known as streaming software, can also record audio. Like Audacity, it’s free and open source, but you’ll still need to configure the appropriate audio source before recording.
External audio recorders with Serato DJ Lite?
You can also record your mix with an external audio recorder connected to your DJ controller’s Master or Booth output. Naturally, the recorder needs a compatible audio input and you’ll need the appropriate cable.
If your particular controller doesn’t have a usable Master or Booth output for an external recorder, you’ll need to capture the mix inside the computer instead.
What other kind of DJ software allows you to record your performance right away?
Serato DJ Pro isn’t your only option if built-in mix recording is important to you. Other DJ software such as VirtualDJ, Rekordbox and Traktor Pro also include their own recording tools. With these, you can record your mixes and live performances without worrying about using additional software or dealing with external hardware.

Serato DJ Lite still doesn’t have built-in mix recording, but you can record your sets using third-party software or an external audio recorder if your setup gives you the necessary audio routing.
