Is DDJ-FLX6-GT a simple re-skin of the DDJ-FLX6?

The Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT is simply a different look made available for the already well-known Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 (you can learn more about the original FLX6 here).

The GT in the name actually stands for “graphite”, referring to the new coloring of the controller’s outer shell and front plate.

The other small yet notable difference lies in the controller’s jog wheels. Their finish has been updated with a new look and (mainly) new feel. More on that in a short while.

The color scheme changes

Yes, the DDJ-FLX6 just got a really subtle and quite tasteful reskin.

The main changes in the DDJ-FLX6-GT have to do with its outer shell coloring. The lighter color scheme of the FLX6-GT is quite a nice touch, however it’s not really that much different to the original FLX6.

It terms of the new colors, they were only introduced in the casing – all the knobs, faders and buttons didn’t change their looks.

Let’s now quickly go over the more prominent jog wheel styling changes.

Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 vs. DDJ-1000 (Direct Comparison!)

The jog wheel changes

The Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT introduces a metallic top surface and a rubber-like edge finish to the original FLX6 jog wheels.

The slight difference in style of the CDJ size jog wheels on the DDJ-FLX6 is the second thing that makes the FLX6-GT different from the original FLX6.

On the GT, the jog wheel platters are now covered with a metallic kind of finish (instead of a plasticky one on the original FLX6), and the jog wheel edges are now rubberized.

Otherwise, the jog wheel functionality or feel hasn’t changed as the components used are still exactly the same in both devices.

Where can you get the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT?

As always, we advise you to first and foremost check the price and availability of the FLX6-GT in the official Pioneer DJ store over on Amazon, and then over on Ebay.

When it comes to the price of the new “GT” reskin, it’s set slightly higher than the price of the original DDJ-FLX6.

It make take a little bit of time until the DDJ-FLX6-GT actually hits the local stores, so if you don’t want to get it online yet, be patient!

The conclusion – Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT

So, as it turns out, the matter of comparing the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6 with the DDJ-FLX6-GT is simply a matter of looks. There are no real changes in functionality between the two devices besides the cosmetic changes to the device’s color scheme and the jog wheel finish.

All in all, the updated looks of the Pioneer DDJ-FLX6-GT are a nice touch and they surely breathe some fresh air into the now well established FLX controllers line.

It really does seem that the changes were made to further turn our eyes to the Pioneer FLX DJ controller series, brought to attention with the coming of the Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 and the discontinuation of the DDJ-400 product line.
